TRANEXAMIC ACID 5% + VITAMIN C 1%
Tranexamic acid (TA) ranks as a third tier active in the treatment of melasma. This is close behind Hydroquinone & other depigmenting actives eg. Azelaic Acid. The science of TA is one of the biggest breakthroughs in the management of melasma & hyperpigmentation.
USES: Melasma & Hyperpigmentation
TA provides a powerful, specific anti-inflammatory action: inhibiting pigment production in pigment cells. It also blocks the transfer of pigment from pigment cells to dermal cells in the upper skin layers. It is calming & restores the skin barrier.
Due to recent trends, TA is more often purchased for its whitening & brightening effects. And for this purpose, TA is best combined with other depigmenting topicals & chemical peels. It performs significantly well in this arena.
ACTIVES: Tranexamic acid 5% & Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate 1% (a lipid soluble form of Vitamin C)
FORMULATION: Rich cream consistency
RECOMMENDED USAGE: Application should be in the evening 2-4 hours before bedtime. This is because application right before bedtime would increase your chance of smudging, resulting in blotchy absorption and consequently blotchy results. Being meticulous and precise will ensure an even application, ensuring the best possible results.
Topical creams containing TA can be used up to twice a day. It may be combined with other depigmenting topicals including Retinol, Alpha Arbutin, Azelaic Acid, Kojic Acid & Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).
WARNINGS: As with the addition of any new product, start slowly with application every second night & increase as tolerated. If you have super sensitive skin, a test patch is imperative before full facial application.
